	Er det noen som har informasjon om sykdommen "entrapment"? Jeg vet bare at det er en alvorlig hals infeksjon, men jeg finner ikke ut noe mer om det. R.I.P Roberto Bada</3

	Epiglottic entrapment is a relatively common disorder in the throat of the horse that can produce an obstruction to airflow, resulting in a respiratory noise when the horse exercises. Diagnosis is made with an endoscope passed down the horse's nose to look down the back of the throat. The abnormality is due to a membrane, that normally lies under the larynx (voice box), which becomes dislocated to lie over the epiglottis, as is shown in the accompanying picture. The condition was first discovered only 20 years ago, with the introduction of flexible endoscopes that allowed veterinarians to visualise the back of the throat. Surgery was developed to correct the problem but the surgery often involved opening up the throat to gain access to the larynx. Recently, a special hook knife has become available that can be passed down the nose to cut the tissue overlying the epiglottis. In a recent issue of the Equine Veterinary Journal, published in the UK, Tim Greet describes the treatment of 26 horses using the special hook knife (Greet, TRC Experiences in treatment of epiglottal entrapment using a hook knife per nasam Equine Veterinary Journal Vol. 27 No. 2 1995 pg. 122). He found that 22 of the 26 horses were successfully treated by cutting the tissue over the epiglottis but that several horses required a second operation. The results of the operation were good, most of the horses had an improved performance and there was no respiratory noise.
